To Teach or To learn
Blessed with and around a child is the most beautiful experience anyone can have.Sweet innocence, loving energy, blissful rejoice-all what the best life has to offer comes packed in abundance through them.Life breathes through them as they are the greatest gift from God.Khalil Gibran-a great poet has put it beautifully
“They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself”
Such gift through which life manifests itself comes with high responsibility both for the parents and the teachers. It requires loads of awareness and understanding.Just being a parent and a teacher by default is not sufficient for this.As Gibran puts it
“They come through you but not from you”
Loving a child comes naturally but letting a child grow naturally comes with lot of efforts.Trying to impose our ideas directly or indirectly on our children is detrimental to their growth and happiness. They are born with divine qualities but when we speak negatively about our life partners, their teachers or other fellow human beings in their presence then we do a lot of damage to this process of natural growth.Gibran states it very clearly in his poem
“You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts”
In an effort to make our child like us we sometimes keep on filling him with life opposing ideas in our unawareness.Child’s happy survival is based on the trust he naturally has on his fellow human beings-be it parents, friends or teachers. It gets seriously impacted if these pillars of strength around him speak or act against each other.Life suffers in that case.Growth blunts and sadly child starts becoming as the world is-corrupt,scornful and pessimistic.Whereas life gave us an opportunity to celebrate positivity through the child we mould the child in our set formats defying life’s beauty.Do we really need to do all this or something completely opposite.
Lets be very careful what and how we behave with a child as life breathes and thrives through them.We need to save them from learning our anger, our mistrust and our negativity and allow them to teach us their love, their trust and their optimism.Life will be much enriching then.
You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams
“You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For Life goes not backwards nor tarries with yesterday”.
